BRUCE, Charity (DeWitt) d. Sept. 15, 1938 w/o Andrew Bruce. Galt Woman Dies in Stockton Hospital.
Mrs. Charity Bruce, resident of Galt for the past 20 years, died yesterday afternoon in a Stockton Hospital. She was a native of Nebraska, 63 years of age. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Maggie Jensen, Bend, Or., Mrs. Charles Marshall, Guerneville, Ca., George, Robert, John and Paul Bruce, Galt, Ca., and Charles Bruce, San Francisco. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o.clock at the Lodi Funeral Home with Rev. Hawley of the Galt Methodist Church officiating. Internment will be in Liberty Cemetery, Galt. Active member of the Society of Ladies Aide School Club, Farm Bureau and Democratic party. In 1934 Charity moved in with her son George to care for his children, after his wife died, by this time she was semi-disabled and by 1937 was an invalid. She had only one lung and had difficulty breathing. She lived with her son, George, until she passed away in 1938 at Stockton, California.
