William H. ELLIS 2
THE ONE HUNDRED YEAR HISTORY OF HANOVER, KANSAS - from Hanover Centennial -- 1869-1969": On a Sunday afternoon in December, 1921, Hanover residents who were listening to their radios, were surprised to hear music by local musicians issuing from their receiving sets. Investigation disclosed that the program was, in reality, being aired right here in Hanover. William (Bill) Ellis, manager of the local telephone exchange, had built a radio broadcasting set and, for the next two or three years, Hanover citizens were frequently treated to programs aired right here in Hanover. William married Georgie WICKHAM, daughter of Thomas Ambrose WICKHAM and Louise A. MURPHY, about 1916.1 (Georgie WICKHAM was born on 25 Aug 1898 in MO and died on 3 May 1966 in probably Hanover, Washington Co, KS 3.) |
