OBIT, 1975: Stella attended Sunnyside rural school. On Feb. 21, 1912 she was married to B. H. James. The couple had 5 children. Mr. and Mrs. James made their home on the same farm in Union Township for 57 yrs. After breaking her hip, she and her husband moved to an apartment in Grinnell. For the past 2 years they lived at Friendship Manor. Mrs. Hanes was a member of the Little Mound Baptist Church until she transferred her membership to the 1st Baptist Church in Grinnell." She is survived by her husband, her children, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and her sister Bertha.
