Records about Rev. Louis Wickham:
After his graduation from the Seminary, he served as City Missionary in St. Louis (ministering to the needy), beginning Sep. 23, 1923.
Beginning Sep. 30, 1930, he served as Superintendent of the Lutheran Children's Friend Society of Missouri (which provided family foster care and adoption services for orphans).
During WW II, beginning in 1942, he served as Chaplain in the U. S. Army.
After the war, beginning in 1947, he served as Executive Secretery of the Children's Friend Society in Cleveland, Ohio.
On Sep. 23, 1951, he began serving as Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Austin, TX. During this time, he also served as Chairman of the Student Aid Board of the LCMS Texas District (from 1954-1957). Following this, he would serve on the Board of Relief in the LCMS Texas District (1957-1966).
He resigned from Christ Lutheran in 1959, but was able to serve as Assistant Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mercedes, TX, beginning March 6, 1960.
Then, on July 10, 1960, he began serving as Pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Palacios, TX.
On Sep. 29, 1963, he began serving as Pastor of First Lutheran Church in Rosebud, TX, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Cameron, TX.
Then, in 1966, he retired.
A tract advertising one of his lectures during his time as City Missionary in St. Louis (1923-1930) reads as follows: "Charity Begins at Home"

OBIT: St. Louis Post Dispatch, June 2, 1970:
L. W. Wickham Dies; Lutheran Minister
Funeral services for the Rev. Louis. W. Wickham, a Lutheran missionary in St. Louis 40 years ago, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bopp undertaking establishment, 10610 Manchester Road, Kirkwood. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Rev. Mr. Wickham, 72 years old, died yesterday after a heart attack in Parkdale, Ore. He was graduated in 1923 from Concordia Seminary and worked as a city missionary about 10 years. He was an Army chaplain during World War II and later was a pastor in Texas, retiring in 1968.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Elaine Lochhaas, Manchester; Mrs. Muriel Resner, Kingsley, Ia.; Mrs. Richard Mueller, Parkdale, and Mrs. Lois Ellingson, Liberty, Mo.; a brother, George Wickham, Grayville, Ill.; a stepbrother, Leonard Sexton, Springfield, Mo.; and 20 grandchildren.
